Welcome to term 1 in Primary 4/5!
Mrs Anderson will be in class Monday, Tuesday and alternate Wednesdays and Miss Elliott the other Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.
We have a busy term ahead with lots of learning and activities.
In numeracy P4/5 will consider place value, multiplication and addition this term applying their learning using mental maths, active maths, ICT programs, problem solving and written methods. They will look at 2D and 3D shape, Symmetry and Position and Movement.
P4/5 will be continuing with active literacy for spelling and reading. The class have begun a novel study on ‘The Owl Who was Afraid of the Dark’. For writing they will be focusing on the four features of writing; vocabulary, connectors, openers and punctuation and applying these across different genres of texts.
We will also be visiting the school Lending Library every Thursday as we continue to promote Reading for Pleasure for all children.
P.E. will be on Mondays and Wednesdays.
Homework will be issued on the Monday to be returned on the Friday.
It will usually consist of;
Spelling— choose 3 activities from the spelling matrix to be completed over the course of the week.
Reading— school reading book with pages written in diary.
Additional homework may be given for mental maths and other curricular areas.
Please bring homework diaries and reading books to school everyday.
